Key 3: Humility

page 59 in the Starting Over Guide

Humility isn’t about shrinking. It’s about becoming grounded. In Starting Over, Humility is the work of clearing away pride, denial, and defensiveness so something new can be built. It’s like digging deep to lay a foundation. It’s hard, messy, and sometimes painful, but it’s where strength begins. Humility says, “I don’t have to do this alone, and I’m willing to grow.”

“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”
— Matthew 5:5

Reflection Prompts

Take time to write, reflect, or sit with these questions. You can answer privately or share in the comments below.

  • Where in your life are you still trying to prove something or hold it together?
  • What would it mean to admit you don’t have all the answers?
  • How do you respond when others offer help or feedback?
  • What has pride cost you in your relationships, growth, or recovery?

Closing Notes

Real strength doesn’t resist help. It makes room for it. Humility opens the door to community, guidance, and growth. The deeper you dig, the more stable the structure.
